Demo Kit Instructions

What’s Inside?

Inside the kit, you will find one Meta Quest 2 headset, two controllers, extra batteries, a charger for the headset, an eye glass spacer, and lens cleaning wipes.

Before you use the headset, we recommend watching the following Meta Quest tutorial video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBSiZ5Pcjjg

You can skip the parts in the beginning that address the initial setup of the device, which includes the download of the Oculus app and connecting to a Facebook account. We have already set up the account for you so you only need to watch the following segments: 0:00 to 0:37 and 2:37 to the end.

Getting Set Up

Please walk through the following steps in order to have the best experience in virtual reality. More information about setting up the device can be found on the Meta Quest Support website if needed: https://support.oculus.com/795778631158860/.

Step 1: Charge the Headset and Replace Batteries if Needed

We sent you the headset already charged, but, to be on the safe side, please plug the charging cord into your Meta Quest 2 headset and a power source a few hours before use. The charging indicator turns green once the headset is fully charged. You can keep charging the headset while using it but note that the power cord will be connected to your device and may limit your movement. A fully charged headset typically lasts 2-3 hours.

The battery level of the controllers will be indicated when you are wearing the headset and look down at them. If the batteries need changing, slide the cover downward on the controllers to open the battery compartment and replace the battery. We also recommend cleaning the lens with the sanitized wipes and replacing the batteries if they are low.

Step 2: Adjust the Headset Fit and View

  1. To start, you'll want to gently adjust the spacing of the lenses by shifting them left, then right until they click into the position that allows you to see what's on the screen most clearly.

  2. Next, adjust the side straps. To do this, move the two plastic sliders on either side of the strap. To loosen the side straps, move the sliders toward the top strap. To tighten the side straps, move the sliders away from the top strap.

  • After you move the sliders, re-center the top strap between the sliders so that the two sides are equal, and the top strap is centered on your head when you put the headset on.

  • Keep in mind, you'll need to remove the headset from your head to re-adjust the side straps with the sliders.

  1. If you're wearing glasses, make sure to insert the glasses spacer. When you're ready to put the headset on, put it on from front to back.

  2. Place the headset on your head, then remove it and make any additional adjustments to the side straps as needed.

  3. Once you've got the side straps set, put your headset back on and adjust the top strap. You can adjust the top strap by pulling apart the velcro and re-attaching it so that your Quest 2 rests lightly on your face and the picture is clear.

  4. You can fine tune your headset fit and clarity by gently moving the firm arms on either side of your Quest 2 up and down to adjust the angle of the headset against your face.

Step 3: Connect to Wi-Fi

  1. Select Wi-Fi.

  2. Select the Wi-Fi network you'd like to connect to.

  3. If prompted, enter the password for the Wi-Fi network you'd like to connect to.

  4. Select Connect to connect to the Wi-Fi network.

Step 4: Setup the Guardian and Play Area

The guardian defines the boundaries for your VR activity. Whether you are seated, standing, or moving, the VR play area should be cleared from obstacles you do not see once you wear the headset. The guardian boundary can be stationary – a static circle, good for seated experiences, or can be Room Scale – which defines a larger area where you can move freely. Once you get close to the guardian’s edge, you will see that a virtual wall

appears on your display to alert you that you may have crossed the safe area you defined. Once crossed, the Meta Quest will switch to a “pass-through” mode which shows you the actual environment through the cameras of the headset, so you avoid stumbling into objects.

Each time you put on the headset, you will be asked to calibrate the height of the floor and then define the play area. Please watch this tutorial to help setup your guardian boundary: https://youtu.be/zh5ldprM5Mg
